
The Government publishes the White Paper "Fairer, Faster and Firmer" in July. This includes proposals to regulate people who provide immigration services and advice - leading to the Immigration Services Tribunal.
The Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 becomes law in November. This leads to the creation of the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (the regulatory body) and the Immigration Services Tribunal (the appeal body).
The Immigration Services Tribunal is launched on 30th October. It operates in line with Sections 87, 88, 89 and 90 and Schedule 7 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. Our procedures are set out in The Immigration Services Tribunal Rules 2000 and The Immigration Services Tribunal (Amendment) Rules 2002.

We normally arrange hearings at Procession House, 55 Ludgate Hill, London EC4M 7JW, although the Tribunal could sit anywhere in the United Kingdom, as long as suitable accommodation is available.
